Forced Family Fun Weekend!!

Whew!  What a fun weekend we had!  It makes up for the kind of crappy week we had.  The week started off with cold, cold weather and snow, then dad had to go out of town for the week for work, then one of our upstairs smoke alarm batteries died, which doesn't sound all that bad except there are 5 in close proximity and trying to figure out which one it was was loud and annoying.  Once mom and I figure out which one it was and got the new battery put in, the battery jammed and we couldn't get it out to stop the *&%&( beeping.  We got that under control and then got mom's temper under control.  The next day, mom dropped her beloved iphone in the snow and it stopped working.  No big deal except that her  phone is a required necessity for work.  Thankfully, it dried out and started working about 4 hours later.  Then mom's work lap top stopped working, then the garage wouldn't close and then we are packing to move and then I had girl scouts (which mom is supposedly co-leading) and dad is STILL out of town.  I did my best to keep mom under control and we made it to Thursday when dad finally got home- yeah!  That reunion was short lived though because mom and I headed out early Friday morning for a weekend trip to Phoenix for cousin Brian's wedding.  It was a perfect weekend to go in so many ways!  Warm weather, family, more people to keep an eye on me so mom could just sit and stare into space- all good!
Nana D and Mr. Walker picked us up at the airport and we got to the hotel in time to catch Aunt Mary Kay coming up with The Beer Wagon.  Always a good sign!

We relaxed in the room for a bit and headed next door for the rehearsal dinner.  I didn't remember a lot of the people there but that didn't stop me from attaching myself to everyone.  Uncle Boo (the groom's dad) was especially accommodating and I took full advantage of that.

After a late night, mom got up early and went for a run, leaving Nana and Mr. in charge.  She decided it is a very good thing to run in warm weather at low altitude.  Aaaahhhh!
Since we were in Phoenix and it was 65 degrees, we took full advantage and headed to the park for a bit to feed the ducks and run some energy off.

This is mom's favorite duck because of his fancy hair.  Pretty cool dude.

After completely exhausting myself at the park, we came back to the hotel and got ourselves looking good for the wedding.  That took the very last of my energy and when we got to the church, I passed out like a drunken sailor on mom's lap and slept through the whole service.  Mom says it was a beautiful service and Amanda (the bride) was gorgeous and sparkly and the groom was so handsome!
I woke up in time for the reception, thankfully because it had all my favorite things- red velvet cupcakes, peppermint Hershey kisses, chicken fingers (but I ate most of mom's roast beef instead) and Christmas!

Nana D, Aunt Mary Kay, Mr. Walker and cousin Becky (the best, most patient, most tolerant cousin ever!)

Me and Mikala, the flower girl.

The really cool center pieces.

Aunt Mary Kay and Uncle Jim

Here was a kind of cool thing- the DJ did a "married dance" for all married couples.  Everyone headed to the dance floor and then had to step off as their years of marriage passed.  The last two couples left were Aunt Mary Kay and Uncle Boo and Nana and Mr.   The very last couple on the dance floor was Nana D and Mr. Walker- 42 years.  I think that is a pretty impressive feat and it was very cool to see- although that means Nana and Mr. are old I think.

Taking 5 with Uncle Jim- I needed it.  I started dancing when the music started and didn't stop until mom dragged me out of the reception 4 hours later.  I was exhausted.

The Walkers- a little overexposed.

The last hurray with Mr. Walker.
We were up bright and early on Sunday to head back to Denver.  Thankfully, it was almost 50 degrees when we got here so it wasn't such a shock to the system.
We had such a great time this weekend and it was wonderful to see everyone- we wish Brian and Amanda lots of love and support on their journey!
