Old Happy Self

La, lala lala. I'm back to my usual happy self. I forgot to report that I was home sick with a 104 fever for 3 days last week. Not so much fun but I'm back!

I had my allergist appointment yesterday. I was much better behaved mostly 'cause dad was able to get off work a little early and meet us there. I found it a little harder to cause turmoil when mom and dad double teamed me. Mom and I got there about a half hour early and we waited patiently and I talked and talked the entire time. I talked to mom about the books, the chairs, my hair and anything else I could think of. I think the other patients were happy when we finally left the waiting room. Maybe not everyone finds me as cute and amuzing as mom and dad. Mom got to ask all of her questions that she didn't get to ask last time and the doctor spent a whopping 30 minutes with us. Crazy in this day and age but since I don't go back for another 2 years, I think he owed us that much!

Other than that, it is cold and windy again but we will perservere. At least we aren't in Michigan. Brrr!

I'M......A.......GIRL!!!!!

So, what is it about the pink shirts, pink shoes, ruffles etc that make people think I'm a boy??!! I realized my hair is still a bit sparse but come on! My delicate demeanor should be clue number one. I had two people in Home Depot call me a boy. Mom is teaching me to say "I'M A GIRL!" but it is sounding more like "I'M A DOEHL!" Oh well, I'm starting to get some more curls so maybe we can get some barrettes or something. Although then, people will probably just think I'm boy with bows.
It was another gloriously boring weekend. We spent most of Saturday running errands and getting our "have to's" done. It was such a beautiful day. Mom actually had a half-hour to herself and sat outside enjoying our backyard. Saturday night, dad had his annual "Boys Poker Party" up in the mountains. He spent the night at a cabin with a bunch of friends and managed to win $10. He's feeling like a high roller now. Meanwhile, down at the home front, we had some of the Poker wives over for a girls night dinner. We had a very fun time but the girls disappointed themselves as they didn't even make through one bottle of wine! I managed to make it until about 7:30 but then I had mom up at 11:45, 12:30 and 5:30 screaming for my "dis". I'm thinking that things days are numbered.
Dad came home Sunday morning and mom and I headed to the bookstore for awhile to let him recover. It was a nice rainy, cold day so dad hauled my jumping castle out and we had some rainy-day fun in the afternoon jumping and spinning with crazy abandon!
Have a good week!

Grasping the concept

So, about 2 weeks ago, Ms. Celeste and Ms. Kacee, my teachers in daycare, told mom how good I always was. I always listened well, never hit anyone, never bit anyone and never had to be told twice what to do. Of course, mom wasn't sure who they were talking about, but they swore up and down it was me. Well mom shows up last week and Ms. Celeste and Ms. Kacee ratted me out and told mom I wasn't listening anymore. Mom thought that sounded a bit more familiar You just can't trust anyone.
Mom has started to try the dreaded "time-out" and I think I have it figured out. On Sunday, I was walloping Daisy with Animal and mom told me to stop. Of course, I didn't hear and next thing I know, I'm in a corner with mom "blah, blah blahing" at me. Something about not hitting the dog. I sat there forever (2 minutes), got out after more "blah, blahing" and resumed walloping. Back in the corner for me. By that time I was tired of walloping Daisy and found something else to do for awhile. Then the temptation was to great and I went back to walloping Daisy. I looked at mom and put myself into the corner. It was a fun game! I guess mom decided the time-out wasn't working so she took away Animal instead. Now , I get it.
I have been home sick for 2 days now with a fever of 104. I feel fine as long as I have lots of Tylenol on board but still to sick for daycare. Mom stayed home with me yesterday and today and it is Dad's turn tomorrow.
Here are some more pictures of our yard with the new gravel. Please take note of our little patch of grass. Dad is very excited about that and we know the dogs can't wait for it all to come in. Grass probably doesn't seem like such a big deal to my Midwest and east coast readers but trust me- it is a big deal! We still have a lot of planting to do but at least we can outside without stepping on a rusty nail now.

Outside wandering

Well, this weekend wasn't all about me but it was still pretty fun. Friday got off to a rough start. Mom overslept by about 40 minutes, so I had to pay for it by having to "hurry, hurry" all morning. I'm just so not into hurrying in the morning but we did make it to school and work on time. Dad had the day off and spent it doing MORE yardwork. We had 15 tons (yes, tons. We have a huge backyard) of gravel, a roll-off dumpster and a Bobcat delivered Friday morning and dad went to town dumping stuff, building mounds and dumping gravel. It might have been a total wash of a day except that his new bike was ready for pick-up. He bought a special bike just for riding time trials in races. He says I'm still number one in his life but it feels a little like when the iphone came home.
On Saturday, we made the yard work a family affair. I was the dirtiest, messiest little girl you've ever seen. I LOVE playing in the rocks and spent a good deal of the day with my pants down around my ankles, filling them with rocks. Then I would pull them up and try to walk around. I guess you just gotta try it because it is more fun than I can describe. I also spent a lot of time climbing to the top of the humongous gravel pile and sliding down belly first, helping mom move rock and spread gravel and supervising dad on the bobcat. We were all pretty beat by the end of the day but the good news is, the yard is all done.... for now. We have some painting and planting to do but for now, we are just going to enjoy it!
Sunday, we spent a lot of time outside wandering around. We didn't know what to do with ourselves, since we didn't have any yardwork to do. Mom and I wandered over to the park to watch the soccer tournament, then wandered back home. Mom, dad and I wandered (in our car) over to a new park we hadn't been to before and had a picnic and then wandered around there for awhile. It was a really pretty park with lots of ducks and a really pretty day for wandering. Wish we could do it more! Wishing you all a wanderful week!

Playing

Gosh, I sure wish I had something to report. It has been a very boring few days which isn't necessarily a bad thing. We are just getting up, playing, going to school, playing, coming home, playing ,eating dinner, playing, taking a bath, playing, reading books and going to bed. It is a bit of a rough life- it wears me out.
I now know all my colors and can count to 2 but that is about it. I'll try to do something cute this weekend.

Me, me, me, me, me,.......

My weekend was very fun- mainly because it was all about me! On Friday, mom and I went to the park after work and there tons of other kids there but they were all boys. It got a little crazy there for awhile- you know how boys are- but we all did just fine. I got to dig in the sand and play in a huge pile of leaves. I guess fall has finally hit Tucson.
On Saturday, mom and I met my friend Madelyne and her mom Audrey down at the Children's Museum. Madelyne and I didn't play to much together because I was to busy running from room to room and ramming my push-cart into things, including people. Mom spent a lot of time apologizing on my behalf. Maybe I need to pay her more. After that, we did a ladies lunch. Madelyne and I had a little meeting of the minds and decided not to eat. Then we watched the moms try to get clever and make us eat. So much fun I tell you!
On Sunday, Dad and I went to the Desert Museum. We stopped at Grandma Sue's house on the way and I got to play with Papa Vern for a while and then Grandma came with us. I really liked the wolves and the sheep but otherwise spent most of the time RUNNING,RUNNING.
Mom and dad both put in their time doing hard labor. Dad started building the wall for the garden on Saturday and mom finished it up today. It looks very professional- really- especially moms part, considering this was the first she ever mixed concrete. Very professional. We'll see how long it stays up.
Have a great week!
Sorry Uncle Adam- no pictures. We will try for our next post but we don't want to post just any old pictures. I have my pride you know!

Mom strongly dislikes Dora

Mom doesn't really hate Dora but she sure doesn't like her. Dora would be Dora the Explorer an awesome little character that speaks some Spanish and goes on little adventures with the monkey, Tico and her backpack. When cousin Brooke was out to visit, she brought a Dora song book that had a walkman kind of thing that plays the songs. I had a lot of fun with the book so mom bought me one of my own. Now, I am all about "Doewa". I play the songs all the time, I make mom sing the songs to me on the way to school in the morning, I won't let mom read me bedtime stories because I want to play Dora and mom is singing Dora songs at work. (That is her favorite part- "We like to pick, pick, pick apples and bananas, We like to pay-ck,pay-ck,pac-ck ayples and baynaynays", you get the idea). Well, now I can't seem to find my Dora book anywhere. I wonder what happened to it?

Quiet weekend

I think we are back on schedule now. It is Sunday, right? We are all feeling better now and have broken all our resolutions, so the New Year is finally going better!

What have I been up to these days? As a surprise for mom, I washed Animal...in the toilet. I think that was the most surprising thing. She was actually very calm when she found me dunking him, very diligently, in and out of the toilet. He was looking just about right when she took him and tossed him in the wash. I guess that works too.

The rest of the weekend was pretty quiet- we went to the zoo on Saturday, supervised dad doing yard work and had the neighbors over for dinner on Sunday. Dad finally got our firepit up and working after only about 50 trips to the hardware store. He has moved all kinds of dirt and made all kinds of mounds, got the sprinkler system in and planted some grass seeds. Good thing mom and I were there to make sure everything went OK. I don't think dad could have done it without us!

Not a good start

Boy, am I lost! What day is it? I never really know what day it is because everyday is playday for me. Mom and dad are a little confused though. We must still be catching up after our wild New Year's Eve. I had a really rough time. I think I'm getting more teeth because I spent most of New Year's Eve crying and fussing and mom caught my cold, so dad was the only healthy one. He had a great time! I was in bed by 7, mom and dad by 10. Mom thinks she heard some fireworks about midnight but pretty much slept through it. We woke up the next day not much better. Mom was still sick and my teeth hurt even worse. I just couldn't get comfortable and cried and squirmed and said "owie" and pointed to my teeth all morning. I did feel much better after a double dose of Tylenol and a good nap. That brought me back to my usual spectacular old self. Can't say the same for mom though.
We are all back into the old grind now and looking forward to our next vacation- whenever that is. Here's to hoping our year goes better than it started!
