Apples, no apples

I'm exhausted.  This has been a busy weekend for real.  Not like other weekends where I SAY we were busy but really weren't.
On Friday night, dad and I hung out and watched Curious George while mom went to a debate watching party (GEEK!)  Mom had a good time and so did dad and I.
On Saturday, I had my art class in the morning and I got to make a big fish.  Mom tried to take a picture of it with me but I wouldn't stand still.
On Sunday, we were up at o'dark thiry (mom and dad at 3:45 and me at 4:30) headed out to dad's final bike race of the year, the Mt. Graham State Championship Hill Climb.  It was 20 miles of brutal uphill climbing.  Mom and I drove to the top and we were tired after that.  Imagine poor dad.  Mom and I met some really nice people at the top and one lady gave me a locally picked apple that was a big as my head.  I worked on that thing all morning until I dropped it in the dirt.  Sadness.  Dad finished his race (and was not too sad to see the season end) and we all headed back down the mountain to Willcox, AZ to pick apples of our own.  We ate lunch in the orchard and then headed out on our fruitless (yes, pun intended) search for apples.  After wandering around in the 90 degree heat and 50 mile an hour winds and not finding any apples, we decided just to buy them at the store.  They were just as tasty and much easier to come by.  We got home, took much needed showers and then headed out to meet Brian and Christina for dinner.  I was just a bit of a handful at dinner and mom and dad were a little embarrassed as we kept getting sidelong glances from other people.  It was good practice for using my inside voice.  Everyone is in bed early tonight and wishing desperately that it wasn't Monday tomorrow.

Busy, busy weekend

It started out being a very slow weekend.  Mom and I were both under the weather all week, so we really just wanted to sleep come Friday night.  Dad did pick me up early from daycare and we had a lunch date.  I ate most of dad's lunch and some of mine.
On Saturday, mom and I went to my art class in the morning.  We did sponge painting and finger painting.  I wasn't so into it this week.  I kind of just wanted to sleep again and so did mom.  We stuck it though and I have 3 pretty cool pictures to show for it.  After my nap, I felt better so dad and I painted the garden wall.  I think I have a natural talent for it, when I'm not walking through the paint pan.  Dad really liked that one.
On Sunday, we had dad's bike team (Old Pueblo Velo) over for a barbeque.  I had a absolute blast!  There were about a bazillion kids and I had a great time with all of them.  We all swam and swam and swam some more.  Mom was so proud of how well I shared all my toys and how I kept my fatigue induced meltdowns to a bare minimum (one- and it was very short lived).  For all that good behaviour today, mom rewarded me with a 6:45 bedtime.  I fought her a bit but the end, I could see the benefit.   I was supposed to get my haircut this weekend but I was way to tired, so I'll just continue to stumble through life because I can't see through my hair.

Technical Difficulties

So I have a really cool video to post but I can't upload it, so we'll get dad to work on it tomorrow.

Happy Birthday PaPa Vern!!

Another wild and crazy weekend.  Everyone was in bed early Friday night, including me- we were all pooped.
On Saturday,  mom and I went to my first organized activity.  She signed me up for an art class through Parks and Rec and it is every Saturday morning for 8 weeks.  We get to make a different project every week and this week, we made windsocks.  I love mine and point it out every chance I get.  There are lots of 2 year olds in the class.  All of the girls did great with their projects but the boys..... well, not so good.  One little boy had about 12 meltdowns in the hour, another boy spent the whole time pushing the dust mop around (when he wasn't smacking me in the head and stealing my stuff- mom doesn't like him so much) and the other boy peed all over the floor.  At this stage, mom is very happy I'm a girl!
We headed up to the fancy mall after my nap just to get out of the house, but that turned out to be a bit of a mistake because I refused to leave the toy store without a tantrum.  What was mom saying about me being a girl?
On Sunday, dad had a bike race, so mom and I hung out.  We had breakfast on the patio because it was 61 degrees and very pleasant.  We spent the whole morning outside enjoying the cool weather.
Papa Vern's birthday is tomorrow (he's 3, just like mom) so we went out to dinner.  And just for Papa, I was so good and let him enjoy his birthday dinner.  We hope you have a great day Papa!

Jordan Here!

No worries, folks- dad and I wrangled mom up and put her in a closet so she won't bother you anymore.
My week has been fabulous!  Dad got back from Albuquerque on Sunday and took Monday off work, so I got to stay home with him.  We had a leisurely morning and then headed out to the splash park.  We were the only ones there because everyone else was in school.  Sweeeet!  Dad wasn't super energetic because he wasn't feeling great but I didn't let that stop me.
Other than mom teetering on the brink of a political nervous breakdown, things have been nice and calm.  I go out for a bike ride every night and dad is honestly thinking about signing me up for the Tour de Tucson in November.  It would be the kids ride and we have to check on the age limit but since I'm so huge and such an accomplished rider already, I would probably do fine.  I'll give ol' Lance a run for his money in next year's Tour de France!

It's not about the LIPSTICK!

I don't care who you are voting for come November 4 but this slimy, fear-based politics has got to stop.  We have an unemployment rate of 6.1%, 11% of homeowners are having to foreclose on their mortgages, there are millions of Americans without access to even basic health care, our education system is lagging behind the rest of the world, our polar ice-caps are melting much faster than predicted, we are dependent on other, not-so-friendly, countries to supply our energy needs, the government had to bail out Freddie  Mac and Fannie Mae, we are spending billions of dollars on a war and we are debating pregnant teenagers and lipstick on a pig??!!  Unbelievable.
There is a future to think of and if our candidates for president and we as the voters can't get past the unimportant side show politics, there won't be much of a future left for our kids and grand kids.  It is our responsibility to focus on the issues and think for ourselves.
Sorry for the rant- your favorite pterodactyl toddler will be back!

Fall is here!! Kind of.

Mom was getting very excited because it seemed like fall was here.  We woke up to a 65 degree morning on Saturday and the air was so clear, it seemed for sure summer was over.  But it was a warmer day today, so maybe not.  Anywhooo.
Dad left Saturday morning for a race in Albuquerque and got to spend a fun filled weekend with the in-laws:)  Mom and I hung out most of the weekend.  We watched Cinderella about 12 times with mom lecturing me each time about not needing to wait for my fairy-godmother or my prince.  Got it, ma.  Now let me watch the princess movie please.
Saturday night, mom and I tooled around the neighborhood on my big wheel.  I love to go FAST and have mom chase after me.  I don't pay a lot of attention so I end up careening into peoples yards and off the curb and stuff but it's all good.
Sunday, we got up early and went to the park to eat breakfast and play.  No other kids there but lots of dogs.  That's almost more fun because then I don't have to share.   After that, we went swimming and played in the back yard for awhile, watched more Cinderella and more Cinderella.  (Mom isn't to creative with me sometimes.)
I did take a nap but by the time dad got home at 6:30, mom was tuckered out and tired of Cinderella.
Dad is taking Monday off work, so we get some good Father/daughter bonding time.

Baby Pterodactyl

It is Wednesday and mom thinks every week should be a 3 day week.  She took yesterday off for her birthday and planned to spend the day relaxing and shopping.  I had other ideas for her.  Ms. Wanda, my teacher, called mom at 11 in the morning and told mom I wasn't feeling well and I needed to go home.  I was so happy to spend the day with mom that I felt great as soon as she picked me up.  Mom was a good sport though.  When Dad got home, we all headed out for dinner.  We made it through that barely- I wasn't the best company.  I am two you know.
I have hit another rough patch behaviour wise.  I did it because she was again talking about what a great, level-headed 2 year old I am.  I can't let that kind of talk ruin my street cred at day care, so I nipped in the bud.  My new nickname is Pterodactyl because I don't just say "NO!", I screech it at about 5000 decibels, sounding a lot like dinosaur.  I find it rather amusing.  Mom, not so much.  Dad is out of town this weekend, so we'll see how much patience mom has by Sunday night.

"She's HUGE"

We had a pretty low keyed weekend around here but it was a thoroughly enjoyable one because it was so loooong!
On Friday, dad picked me up early from daycare and we went and got mom a birthday cake and made a surprise visit to mom's work.  We got to hang out and eat cake with mom and some of her co-workers and after that sugar-fest, dad took me out for a lunch date to Chucky-Cheese Pizza.  What a great day!
Saturday, we did a bunch of yard work and got a whole bunch of new plants put in.  I helped dad dig some holes and moved some rocks around in my wheel barrow.
On Sunday, mom and I went to the bookstore so I could play with the trains and in the afternoon, we went to our neighbors for dinner.  I think about a bazillion people told mom and dad that I was "huge".  Someone even thought I was "like 4 years old"!  Crazy people.  Everyone spent some time deciding on what sport I will play and at what college.  I love being the topic of conversation!
On Monday, Dad went on an extra long bike ride, so mom and I went to Sabino Canyon for a walk.  We saw a huge, fuzzy, brown tarantula- kinda cool.  We also saw humongous amounts of water.  It is still an amazing site in the desert.  We also ended up walking behind a forest service diesel truck and our conversation went something like this:
Mom:  "That is a stinky truck, huh Jordan?"
Me: "Mom.  Change the trucks diaper, mom."
I'm kind of concrete in my thinking right now.
Monday night, Papa Vern and Grandma Sue took us out to dinner for mom's birthday.  She is going to continue to milk this until tomorrow night, when dad and I take her out too.  She knows how to work it!
