Up to no good- part deux

Despite appearances, Mom really does keep an eye on me. We stopped the whole "digging in the plant" game when I started to eat the dirt. I wasn't to pleased about that but as mom always puts it, "mommy wins!" so I had no choice in the matter.

Prayers, please

Mom here. If you would send thoughts and prayers to Abby and Nora. Their mom passed away this weekend after an unexpected illness. We know them because they are the "early kids" with Jordan at daycare. Abby is 3 and Nora is 10 months and in the infant room with Jordan. Please pray for these little girls and their dad as they start down this hard road.

Slightly busier weekend

This weekend went fast, but we did more than our usual sit around the house and wait for it to warm up routine. We finally have some nice weather back and mom and dad are sure happy about that! It was in the 60's this weekend. On Friday, mom and I hit the zoo. I had a great time watching the anteaters and the parrots especially. The giraffes were also out and about some- they are little bigger than my dogs, so I wasn't sure what to make of them. After that, we went to the dog park next to the zoo to watch the nice dogs play with each other. We can't take Daisy or Haile there because they don't play nice. THEN, we wandered over to the duck pond and watched the ducks do their thing. I was a tired puppy by the time we were done.
On Sunday, mom ran in her first ever 5K race. She is extremely impressed with herself as she finished 63rd out of 130 and 8th in her age group. She paced the last mile with the president of the Southern Arizona Roadrunners club, who was an olympic qualifier in '96. Before you "ooh and aah" over that, just know that not only was he almost walking, he was also pushing a stroller. He was a good motivator though. Dad and I cheered her on and she was very happy to finish with fanfare! We got home and dad went out for a long, hard bike ride, getting ready for a race next weekend and when he got home, mom dragged us out to the park for my first ever swing experience. I'm not so sure I liked it yet. I didn't feel like taking my head off the chain of the swing. I did really like the wood chips on the ground though and had fun digging holes and building piles with that.
I've been pretty cranky the last few days and really haven't been into that nap thing the past few days. It has thrown mom out of whack too because I used to nap like clockwork from 8 to 10 AM but no more. She's lucky if I give her 30 minutes now. She's hoping its just a phase (or maybe finally some teeth!) and that I'm not turning into a non-napper. Our friend Carter does that and his poor parents were exhausted! On the plus side, I've been yapping up a storm. Apparently, mom and dad spy on me making my speeches in my crib when I'm supposed to be napping. I just like to stand up and let everyone know how it is, loudly. Hope everyone has a restful week!

Up to no good

You know how you parental types start to worry when us youngins' are too quiet and you start to wonder what we are up to? Well, this is what I'm usually up to- playing in the dog kennel and the water dish. It keeps me occupied for quite awhile and is more fun than almost anything else in the house!

The Blizzard of 2007

We did end up having a snow day of sorts. Tucson ended up getting about an inch of snow that acutally stuck to the ground and was there when we woke up the next morning. That was all that was needed to send the city into a tail spin. The city closed every single bridge in the city because of fears of ice. Since we never, ever get snow here, apparently the powers that be didn't realize that the bridges probably should have been de-iced starting sooner than 7 AM!
Mom and dad ventured out at 5:45 AM only to be stopped at the bridge 1/2 mile from their house, so they turned around to try another direction only to be stopped at the bridge on the other side of their house. At that point they gave up and came home. Dad went back to bed and mom and I played for awhile. We finally headed back out at about 8:30, along with every other person in Tucson. Only took us a half-hour to get to daycare. It is back to usual today with the snow all melted. We will be talking about this for a long while!

What the..???!!! Where the...???!!!

The original title of today's post was "A little of this and a little of that" since nothing very exciting had happened. But THEN, dad came in with the announcement that it was snowing AND it was sticking! We haven't seen snow since Easter of 1999. So cool- we are all hoping for a snow day. It could happen since Tucson never gets snow and we don't know how to drive in dry weather, let alone snow!
Anyway, back to the weekend. I'm feeling better but mom and dad got sick. That didn't stop dad from heading out to an overnight poker party with his camping buddies at a cabin in the mountains. He lost money again- now it is looking like college by internet. Mom and I hung out and I discovered my rocking chair. My great grandma Walker (Mr. Walker's mom) gave it to mom when she was little and now I get it. I had a ball rocking myself back and forth. Yee-Haw!
On Saturday, we gave a new babysitter a trial run. She is one of mom's co-worker's daughters. Jesse and I hung out while mom and dad did things around the house and we got along fabulously. Mom and dad are excited to have a good babysitter that lives so very close by.
The only exciting thing today was the above mentioned snow, otherwise today would have been a huge yawner with a capital "Y". Hope everyone has a great Monday!

Naptime Follies

I feel much better and am back with a vengence. I didn't sleep at daycare at all today so I was pretty tired when mom picked me up. I almost fell asleep trying to eat lunch- imagine that! So mom put me down for a nap and then tried to take one herself. ( For some reason, she has a case of the snotsies now too!) That lasted about 10 minutes before I started with the squeeling, yapping and laughing. Mom came in to find out what was going on and found me in the middle of my latest accomplishment. I pulled myself to standing in the crib! I'm so proud! Well, that got me out of bed for awhile to play as mom figured I wasn't too tired anymore. I lasted another hour before exhaustion set in so mom tried it again. This time, in addition to my usual range of noises, I added a loud banging sound. That got mom running in to see what I was doing. Just flinging the mini-blinds around. It's amazing what I can reach from my crib! Dad moved the crib tonight :(. Needless to say, mom didn't get her rest and neither did I so it is off to an early bedtime for me.

Happy Birthday Wheezie!

Today is Carol's birthday. She and mom are friends from back in the day at St. Louis University. She earned the nickname Wheezy because she is endearingly cranky just like Ouizer from the movie Steel Magnolias. When she and mom were in college together, Wheezy loved M&M's and used to line them up by color when she was really stressed out. You could always tell how big of a test was coming by how many rows of M&M's she had. We hope this birthday doesn't induce to many rows Wheezie! Have a fabulous day!
My weekend pretty much stunk. I was sick Friday and Saturday with round 9,252 of the daycare snotsies. I was feeling a little better on Sunday and mom was going to take me to the Family Arts Festival in Downtown Tucson but it was to gosh darn cold and I still have a yucky cough. It was only 48 degrees here yesterday. (It's all relative you people from back east and midwest!) This morning it was 20 degrees at our house. Brrrrr!
I had a pretty rough night last night, lots of coughing and yapping all night. Mom and dad weren't sure if it was sleep yapping or if I was really awake but either way, it kept them up a lot. Mom decided to keep me home from daycare one more day to let me rest. So while Dad gets to trudge off to make the doughnuts, mom gets to deal with snotty, cranky me! Sounds like a lose-lose situation to me!

Typhoid Jordan

Mr. Walker has christened me with a new nickname- Typhoid Jordan. I guess I got the Albuquerque crew really sick when they came out for Christmas. Mr. Walker is pretty funny! We don't really have anything to report. Mom just thought these pictures were too cute to keep to herself!

Boo Hoo OSU

Auntie Mary Kay and Uncle Gary are big Ohio State fans so we just wanted to send our belated condolences to them on the loss of their team. Maybe next year, Buckeyes!

The weekend update

We had another relatively cold weekend here. Mom and I met our friend Audrey and her 5 month old daughter, Maddie, for a walk around lunch time on Friday and mom just about froze her bippy off. Me- I was just great, enjoying the new sites and was none to pleased when she put me back in the car to go home. Maddie and I didn't socialize much as we were each bundled up in our respective strollers. It will be hot around here soon enough, so we are enjoying it.
Friday night, mom went to a birthday party for one of the women in her Birth Center group and left me at home with dad. We just hung out and crawled around a lot. At first mom and dad thought things would be a bit easier now that I'm crawling (mom can hear all the experienced parents laughing right now) but, whew, I'm keeping them busy.
On Saturday, mom and I spent the afternoon repotting a bunch of plants from around the house. It was nice to be outside but still a little chilly. I so wanted to taste the rocks and tried many times but mom kept taking them away from me. Whatever.
On Sunday, mom and dad dropped me off at Grandma Sue's house so they could go to a play. I think I wore grandma out. I only slept for 15 minutes, otherwise, we played and played. Take your vitamins Grandma!
My two new activities for the week are 1) posing for the camera. I've figured out what it is and I know exactly what to do when it comes out. 2) ramming my high-chair into the wall, pulling it back, and ramming it again, repeatedly. Mom loves it.
That's it for this weekend. Hope everyone enjoys their week!

You are what you eat- really!

So...........I have an orange nose. Mom noticed it but was kind of ignoring it. Then Ms. Michelle at daycare (who we LOVE!) made a comment about my little orange nose. Hmmpff. Apparently all the yummy orange foods I like to eat make me turn colors. Mom is going to start with more green foods and see what color that turns me. I'm kind of like the funky, dyed carnations that come out at St. Patricks day except I'm orange instead of green! Let this be a lesson to all of you scarffing down that bag NutterButters and that bag of Chips (mom and dad included!)- who knows what you're turning into:)

Hangin' out

Dad got his SkyChair hung up on our patio and then took me for a ride- so fun! Then he set up my tunnel to crawl through- I would rather pick it up and put it elsewhere.

Random pictures from the holidays

Mom decided we HAD to post a picture of my Aunt Mary Kay's holiday insanity. She makes 30, count them, 30, different kinds of Christmas cookies. Can you imagine? She got to retire early so we think this is the result. Fortunately, they are all very tasty as AMK is a good cook.
We also have posted pictures of the snowy wonderland that was Nana D and Mr. Walker's house in Albuquerque. I think the sun has come out so they can actually leave the house now. Finally, Nana's overstuffed second freezer has a purpose but Nana said they still had to walk to the store becuase she needed stuff. Did we mention that Nana and AMK are sisters? I'm seeing some family similarities!

What I did for Christmas Break

I'll tell you what I didn't do- I didn't dig out from under 15 inches of snow like Nana and Mr. Walker. They got nailed with a huge snow storm that had Mr. Walker on the roof shoveling snow off it so it wouldn't collapse. Good times!
We have had a couple of pretty quiet days around here. I gave dad my cold so he has been feeling pretty pukey. He did manage to get the bathroom cabinets restained and a new mirror hung so our bathroom is coming around nicely.
I'm really digging this crawling thing. I was a big help to mom when she was trying to take the Christmas decorations down. I crawled right up to the tree and managed to get into the tree stand water before mom got to me. My knees are downright filthy but I'm sure having good time.
Grandma Sue came over to babysit last so mom and dad could enjoy an adult evening with their friends. They were home and in bed by 10:15- those crazy kids!
Everyone is heading back to work tomorrow and none to happy about it. Mom finally got me to sleep until 6:30 and now it is back to the old 5:30 grind.
Hope everyone has a wonderful New Year. Our friends Johanna and Ty had their second baby on New Years Eve, so congrats to them! Here's wishing you a few hours of sleep.
