We had a busy week around here and mom and dad had a quiet weekend, while I was the social butterfly. We got back from our house hunting trip last Sunday and dad had to turn around and fly back on Monday for a week of work. And then he caught a nasty cold. And then it was snowing. And then his flight back on Thursday was delayed by 2 hours and he didn't get home until 11 PM.
So while dad was battling illness, snow etc., mom and I were dealing with each other, keeping the house clean and 80 degree weather. We ended up having a very good time!
On Monday, we hit the tennis courts after school/work and I got to practice smacking the ball around, on Tuesday, we made dinner together, on Wednesday we rode our bikes down to the gelato store for desert and on Thursday, we had a picnic in the park. This was really an effort to keep me out of the house as much as possible so I wouldn't have a chance to mess it up but it was fun either way.
On Friday night, we had a good family night and went to see the movie Rio and then went to my favorite "upstairs pizza place" for dinner.
On Saturday, I resumed my tennis lessons but it was not a pretty sight. I was not a the top of my game and missed a lot of balls. I found the best way to deal with imperfection is not to practice more but to sulk in the corner. Mom and dad talk to me lots about practicing to get better (but I just hear "blah, blah blah") and then they ignore me. But Ms. Serena, God love her, came right over and gave me a pep talk and then I went right back to sulking. Just not a good day. The rest of the day went better because I went over to my friend Elizabeth's house for a few hours and we got to go swimming and just generally wear ourselves out.
Sunday was another big day for me. Mom and I went to church and had our donut after and then Grandpa Vern and Grandma Sue came over and took me out for the rest of the day. We tore it up! First, we went to see the movie Hop, then we went to lunch at McDonald's, then we went to the toy store so they could buy me the "tube 'o dogs" that dad refused to buy me last week and THEN we went for ice cream. I didn't get home until 5 but I had such a fabulous day!
We are hoping for a calm week coming up and Dad is looking forward to Easter so he can eat candy again. Have a fabulous week everyone!
