Wow! We have packed a ton of fun into the past week! It just never stops around here!
It started with my last week of school. Of course we didn't do much but I had my "promotion ceremony" on Wednesday and that was tons of fun. Mom and I even had to make a special stop at the store the night before so I had something semi decent to wear. I actually took an interest in what I was going to wear and almost had a meltdown in the store because mom wouldn't buy me the sparkle sandals AND the flower sandals. I ended up with the sparkle ones and I looked very good. No one recognized me with my hair down, so it was kind of fun.
I got to hang out with my two best buds- Camryn and Olivia before we started.
Here are both morning kindie classes. I'm in the back row, fourth from the left. As you can see, I am tall but no where near the tallest in my class!
Here I am getting my diploma from Mrs. McKellar. I loved wearing my "genius hat" but sadly, I lost it already.
After graduation, mom and dad both headed to work and I got to hang out at my friend Cam's house all afternoon. We had pretty much the most amazing time ever and I was exhausted at the end of it.
On Thursday, I spent the day at my friend Sophia's house (thank goodness for friends because mom wouldn't know what to do with me otherwise!) and that about exhausted me as well. BUT. Nana D and Mr. Walker arrived in the afternoon and picked me up and we started my awesome birthday weekend! I talked them into taking me out for ice cream. Then dad came home and we all went out for pizza and ice cream AGAIN!! Because it was almost my birthday you know.
Friday was my official day and I woke up to presents and red velvet pancakes for breakfast. I got an 800 piece Lego dinosaur kit,
A really cool kite
And dinosaur wall stickers!
We spent the next three days putting the Legos together, with Mr. Walker as the page turner for the direction book, dad as quality control and me as the "putter togetherer". I did the whole thing almost all by myself and have been playing with it ever since.
After opening presents, we all headed down to the Natural History Museum for the afternoon then came home and dove into chocolate cake with chocolate frosting.
Since Nana and Mr. were in town, mom and dad took advantage and abandoned me for a date night. For Mother's Day dad got mom a cooking class for both of them. It was very fun and very good food.
They got to make mussels which as you can tell from the look on Dad's face, he just loves!
They made mussels in a tarragon butter broth, pomme frites and steak with Bearnaise sauce made with tarragon. Unfortunately, not only does dad not really love mussels, he isn't a big fan of tarragon either but he was a trooper and ate it all. Both of them decided they would never make Bearnaise sauce again though- something about the 2 cups of butter in the sauce kind of turned them off. It tasted amazing though!
On Saturday, once mom and dad had recovered from their wine and fat the night before, we packed the family up and headed down to the huge REI downtown and to the aquarium for my birthday dinner. We got great seats right next to the fish tank.
Nana D and Mr. Walker headed back to Albuq. on Sunday morning and because it was still my birthday weekend and because we are still in vacation mode, we headed to Elitch Gardens, a big amusement park in downtown Denver. Dad and I have season passes and we took mom on one of our "friend passes". She is only mom but I guess she could be a friend too.
Mom and I rode the big wooden roller coaster. We waited in line for AN HOUR! I was so good and patient. We finally actually got into our seat, seat belts buckled, arms up, ready to go when they made us all get off because of a ride malfunction! Aauuuggghhh! Then lucky us, we were the first back after they fixed it. Mom said a little Hail Mary that everything was really, truly fixed. It was and we had a screamtastic time!
This is us- we are in the back, mom is wearing the white t-shirt. It was a great warm up for Disney World coming up in 9 days!
Monday was a true relaxation day. We all slept in, hung out on the couch watching House Hunters until 2 in the afternoon. We finally got some lawn mowing done and then headed out to buy summer clothes for Disney. This was a new experience for us because if we in Tucson, we would have had our summer wardrobe since February but here, it is still 60 degrees!
We are off to bed with apologies for mis spellings and bad grammar. Mom's allergies are out of control and allergy medicine is crazy stuff!
