Flagstaff Family Weekend

We are 2/3 of the way through our marathon of fun weekends. We will be out of town for 3 of 4 weekends but it is all fun stuff.
This weekend, we headed up to Flagstaff for a few days. Dad had a bike race and we wanted to get out of the heat for a while. Joke was on us though because a big cold front moved through and it was a high of 55 degrees. That was a little colder than we wanted but we weren't complaining.

We were supposed to head up on Friday morning- bright and early but dad had yet another work emergency and to fly to Dallas on Thursday and came back on Friday. We finally got going about 2:30. We had a very uneventful drive up and a good night's sleep.
On Saturday morning, Dad was up at the crack o' dawn for his first race. Mom and I slept until 8 and we felt great! Dad couldn't say the same though. He was racing Masters and those old guys really put the hammer down on him. He wasn't feeling all that prepared to begin with and decided the weekend would be better spent with the family instead of on the bike. That was good news for me and mom. After Dad got back, we all headed out for a day of sight seeing. We headed out to Sunset Crater which is an old volcano with lots and lots of old lava flows. It was very cool but since mom forgot the camera, you'll just have to trust me on that. I spent the day running from one lava field to the next and was really fascinated by the whole thing in general. We had an early dinner and headed back to the hotel for happy hour and a rousing game of dominos.
We had another good night of sleep and headed back to Tucson on Sunday morning. We spent the rest of the day relaxing and enjoying the relatively cool weather.
We are going to rest up this week because we head out again on Friday for Albuquerque for Uncle Adams' and soon to be Aunt Erin's wedding! Yipee!
