My "cool off corner"

Well. We had a kind of rough weekend around here. It was the kind of weekend where mom and dad were questioning the wisdom of having a child in the first place. I spent a whole lot of the weekend in my "cool off area" which is really just mom's nicey-nicey word for time-out. I was more than a little sassy this weekend and apparently mom has a very low tolerance for being spit at and being kicked in the shin. Hmmpff. She has pulled out the Pre-schooler discipline books again which she naively thought she wouldn't need anymore. I think she is even making dad put away his biking magazine in order to read a chapter or two.

When I wasn't kicking, spitting, yelling, in time out, etc. we had a really enjoyable weekend. I had a soccer game on Saturday morning but it wasn't until 10 so we got to sleep in a bit. The weather has finally cooled off and it was a really enjoyable game.
I got to be co-captain with Dani-Jo. That is a really important job because you have to shake the other team captain's hands and help with the coin toss.

We did a great job even if we lost the toss. I had another game of my usual "run around in circles and not pay much attention" kind of games but the good thing is, all the other four years olds were doing the same thing.

We pulled out a squeeker of a game and beat the Purple Pumas in the last quarter by 3-2. I really had nothing to do the score. I'm just there for the snacks.

We got home from soccer and spent the rest of the day cleaning up the yard, trimming trees and killing ginormous 3" long, 1/2" around caterpillars. It was really gross and neither mom nor dad wanted to touch the things. So they just shot them with the jet sprayer on the hose and tried to drown them.
On Sunday, mom and I headed to church and then we went to see a friend of hers from work. Carolee fell when she was on vacation in New York City and broke her forearm in 3 places. They wanted to do surgery on her in New York and she said "no-way" and flew all the way home by herself with her arm in a HUGE splint. She had surgery but still can't use her arm and her husband can't cook, so we took them some food. She has a great back-yard with tons and tons of birds and her husband has a train set around the back yard. Carolee told me all about the birds and Bob told me all about his trains. A fun morning.
It was so nice out today that we ate our lunch outside and then dad and I hit the park to practice my soccer skills and play in the swings.
After a very tumultuous bed time involving lots of screaming, crying and kicking, I collapsed into bed and we are all hoping for a fresh, happy start tomorrow!
