We have had a pretty week around here. I think fall is finally here! We had a storm move through over during the week and our high on Wednesday was only about 70 degrees. That is down right cold for us desert rats but so nice to be able to open the doors and windows again!
I had a really fun soccer practice on Thursday. Coach Bill had all the moms do our drills with us and then we got to scrimmage against the moms. To make it fair, Coach Bill made the moms hop on one foot during our scrimmage. That was kind of funny and the moms didn't think it was quite fair since they are all old. They won anyway.
On Friday, we went to my favorite grilled cheese and lemonade place for dinner and then headed to the zoo for their "Howl-o-ween" festivities. I got to wear my costume and trick or treat some. Mom told me this was just a warm up for the real thing next Sunday so I practiced my "Trick or Treat!" I can't even begin to imagine how much candy I'm going to get then!
There were a few animals out including this cool peacock, who was not afraid of the Allosaurus at all. We could almost touch him but decided not to in the end.
On Saturday, I didn't have a soccer game so we had a blissfully unscheduled weekend. Everyone got to sleep in. I made it to 5:45 which is very decadent around this house. Mom went for a run, dad went for a bike ride and I watched a movie. (Not all at the same time of course!)
Mom and I made lollipop Halloween cookies when she got back and I ate about 12 before lunch. They were delicious!
Because it was such a beautiful weekend (high of 73 degrees and clear blue skies!) mom forced us all to go to the park for some fresh air. We played soccer of course and did some swinging and just generally enjoyed the sunshine. On Sunday, mom and I headed to church and in the afternoon, I had a play date with my friend Elizabeth from school. This was a new and eye opening experience for mom because she just dropped me off and left! That is the first time she has dropped me off at a friend's house and a whole new world has opened up for her! She was a little stunned at first because she had planned to stay because that is what she always does but Elizabeth's mom very kindly sent mom on her way. She came home, walked the dogs, cleaned the kitchen and got dinner started- all without me. When she came to pick me up, Elizabeth and I were having such a good time that mom stuck around and had some tea with Elizabeth's mom so it made for a really relaxing afternoon. The only thing that would have made this better is if Elizabeth lived next door.
I hope everyone has a great week! Mom and I headed to Albuquerque on Thursday to see Nana, Mr. Walker, U. Adam and A. Erin. Great grandma Walker is also coming in for a visit so it will be a good family weekend. See you on Halloween!
