We had a healthy, happy week here with not much to report- and that can be a good thing!
I have been working hard on writing my letters and I seem to be going through a learning spurt. All of the sudden, it's just coming to me and I'm having lots of fun with writing.
Our weekend was nice and quiet. On Friday, after school, we took a family trip to the bookstore so mom could pick up "The Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mom" and "Cinderella Ate My Daughter" (that one is about "princess" marketing to little girls- can't wait to hear mom's opinion on it!). She started Tiger Mom and isn't sure what to make of it. The Tiger Mom may be on to something but she is definitely a generalizer, assumes everyone's idea of success is the same and seems to look down her nose at everyone sooooo.... take what you want from that. It is a good read though. She is a dedicated mother for sure because every hour that she is making her kids practice the piano, she is right there, the ENTIRE time yelling at them. My mom definitely doesn't have that kind of dedication!
Saturday morning, we were all up and at 'em early. Mom and dad are hoping to get me into a really good school for kindergarten next year and I had to go for testing Saturday morning. I was in with another group of almost kindergartners and we all got to go off with the teachers and play some games while the grown ups stayed back and kept themselves occupied with other stuff. I had a great time with the other kids and the teachers but the coolest thing was the little bathroom that opens into both classrooms and we all got to walk through it! I told mom and dad ALL about it. I'm a shoe-in right??!
After that, we went out for lunch and then to the hardware store to get started on some more home projects.
Mom and dad decided it was finally time to replace the circa 1990, $9.99 faucets that were in all the bathrooms. It only took two more trips to the hardware store to get it all done. As Mr. Walker always says, "It isn't a project until you've been to Home Depot 5 times." We beat the number by a little but still made a project out of it.
We also got a new concrete bench for the front yard so I could play out front and the grown-ups would have a place to park it when they got tired. We also got a cool little fountain (which you can kind of see in the background- the blue vase thing.) that mom and I put together and dad put into the ground.
The fountain turns out to be a good place to play with my sea animals. While mom and dad sit on the bench. And drink wine.
That night, we went with my friends Madeline and Remington and their mom and dad to see a production of Wizard of Oz that Remington's school was putting on. I loved it and mom and dad were kind of impressed. It wasn't bad for a middle school play.
I so loved the play that when I woke up Sunday morning, I wanted to watch the movie. So mom and I spent the AM curled up on the couch with our breakfast, watching Wizard of Oz. It really is a great movie and it was the highlight of my day.
After that, mom and I made another trip to the hardware store for dad to get the last of the sink supplies and then we made chocolate and butterscotch dipped bananas. We froze them and ate them for desert. So delicious!
The rest of our day was pretty low keyed and we spent it enjoying the last of our nice weather for a few days. It is supposed to get cold and rainy the next few days, so it is time to haul out the sweaters again.
Hope everyone has a great week!

Paige just watched the W of O too. She was a little freaked out, but loved the songs.
