Whew- this has been a recovery week for us here. A brief recap of our last weekend- Uncle Tim, Aunt Dana, Brooke and Faith were here and we were having a fabulous time until I woke up Sunday with a fever, headache, stuffy head etc. I managed to rally for our party that afternoon but didn't get to bed early enough and then I was up at 4:45 Monday morning crying because I had a really bad headache. Mom gave me some medicine and put me back to bed. I slept for a few more hours and felt a little better but still had to miss out on Monday's fun. Everyone else got to go play miniature golf while dad and I hung out at home and mom went to work. We did all meet up at Grandma Sue's house that night for another really good meal. We got home and I was still feeling OK when I went to bed (too late again).
The Dallas Goedels were up at 3:30 because they had to be at the airport by 5AM (gotta love Southwest Airlines!) and everyone was hoping I would sleep through it all but I was up at 4 with the gang. I had such a good time with my cousins that I couldn't let them leave without saying "Good-Bye"! I thought I would make it into school but I had a 102.7 degree temp and mom didn't think I'd be allowed in the door with that. Mom and I had a stay home day this time and we both ended up falling asleep on the couch. Good times!
I was finally well enough to go back to school on Wednesday but it was a little rough and we were exhausted come Friday. We didn't even go out for our usual Friday night on the town. We sat in the back yard with our various beverages and mom and dad contemplated ALL the stupid house projects they have left to do and then we went to bed. And it was good.
On Saturday, we went to check out a school mom and dad are thinking about sending me to in the fall (can you believe it??!! Kindergarten??!!) and then we went to the park and out for lunch. I was still pretty danged tired and couldn't even finish my Minnie Mouse pancake. I was exhausted! After we got home, mom and dad spent quite a while in the front yard trying to decide what to do about the stupid front yard walk way. It ran right up next to the house and took you up to the front porch from the side. They've hated it since they bought the house 5 years ago and just now figured out how to change it- and it was basically free and took about 45 minutes, including a quick trip to Home Depot for some vegetation. Now they have a nice whimsical winding path to their front door that actually takes you up to the front of the front porch and not the side. Those are the kinds of home improvement projects we like around here. Cheap and easy.
On Sunday, I slept until 7:30AM which gave mom plenty of time to read the Sunday paper. We watched movies, made cookies and relaxed. We didn't make it out of our jammies until almost 11 so it was a good day. I crashed into bed at 7 and am looking forward to another week. Enjoy everyone!
