We 'heart' Weekends!

Whew!  What  crazy, busy weekend- we didn't even get all of our stuff done but that's OK because we sure had a good weekend.  Our week was pretty quiet because dad was out of town on business.  He got home in time on Thursday to read me a bedtime story and then took me into school on Friday because he had the day off.  Life is good on his off Fridays!
On Saturday, mom went for her run at Sabino Canyon, dad went out for a bike ride and I got my first tennis lesson!  I had soooo much fun!  I got my very own racquet and we got to hit actual balls.  I liked it so much that I when I went to bed I told dad that "I love tennis!"  And I told mom the same thing when I woke up Sunday morning.

Check out my awesome form!

After class, the instructor told mom she was impressed at how well I did for my first time.  She even said something about "natural talent".  Mom laughed a little at that one (and figured the instructor was trying to sell more lessons!) but it was very nice to hear considering my not-so-stellar soccer season.  I hear Stanford has a good tennis team.

After my lessons, we spent some time just wandering around the Racquet club and I found this awesome hiding place in the middle of the trees.  It took some negotiating on mom's part to get me out of there.

After tennis, we came home and tackled the mess that is our backyard.  It has been in the 80's for a week or so now so we figure we are done with winter and it was time to prune.  The good news is that all of our plants seems to have survived the awful, nasty cold weather we had a few weeks ago.

We spent a relaxing evening barbecuing and eating dinner on the patio.

On Sunday, mom and I headed to church and then to the Tucson Festival of Books.  The festival is a huge two day event with authors, books, seminars etc. that takes over the UofA campus.  We didn't make it out of the kids section but there was plenty for us to do there.....
I got this cool cowboy hat and then got to be in a story about 5 Cowboy Monkeys Jumping on the Bed.

I got to meet Curious George which was the highlight of my day and I also saw Mr. Toad and Mr. Frog.

I also got a kite that I got to color and then read a story to Boomerang the therapy dog.  When I saw the dog, I pretty much bulldozed my way to the front, knocking other kids hats off and stepping on their crayons so I could pet him.  DO NOT get between me and my "dog fix"!
When we got home, Grandpa Vern and Grandma Sue were here and took us all out to lunch at my new favorite restaurant, Eegee's.  Then Grandpa and Grandma took me for the afternoon and we went to play miniature golf.  I had a great time and I won (mainly because I cheated- I picked grandpa's balls out of the hole and threw them in the bushes)!
As Grandpa and Grandma were pulling out of the driveway, our friends Brian and Christina and their two little ones pulled in so we had a nice visit catching up with them.
Needless to say, I was exhausted and pretty much collapsed into bed- all ready to start the week!
