The way we have been going, you'd think we were just visiting Colorado and not staying here for the rest of our foreseeable future!
What did we do this week? Let's see- on Tuesday, I went to my first day of day camp and had a really great time. It was the first time mom had to pack me a lunch in 4 years and she wondered how much I would eat. Turns out, not much. I ate my squeezy yogurt, a few wheat thins, a few red peppers and some of my cherries. That was it for the whole day. I didn't even crack open my sandwich and completely forgot about my cookie. I ate a really, really good dinner that night!
I also had a nice surprise when I found my new friend Colin (who lives just behind us) is going to camp too. That made me really, really happy and we have been kind of inseparable ever since.
I was exhausted after my day and hit the hay kind of early and slept until 8:30 on Wednesday. I needed the rest though because mom and I drove down to the zoo and met our friends from Ft. Collins, Ms. Jen and her kids Bailey and Paige. They used to live in Tucson and moved up last summer so they are seasoned veterans to Colorado. We had a great time at the zoo catching up and checking out all the crazy animals I've never seen before. Of course, I was exhausted again and fell asleep in the car before we ever got out of the parking lot. I had a nice long nap on the ride home and that was a good thing!
On Thursday, we had a lower key day. Mom and I went to the gym and then to the park for a bit and then we went to see Kung Fu Panda 2.
Friday was even quieter- mom had to clean the house and then we had to go grocery shopping. Mom rarely takes me grocery shopping and when she does, she quickly remembers why I don't get to go very often. I want everything and mom is exhausted by the end of the trip telling me that I can't have the kumquats, the sour cream, the frozen shrimp etc. I don't even know what most of the stuff is, I just want it. Now. When she does break down and buy me something (bananas) I don't eat it and she ends up throwing it away, or making banana bread.
Dad has been working a whole lot of hours and we haven't seen a bunch of him but he was able to get out a little early on Friday so we headed to the rec center to go swimming and then out for dinner.
We slept in on Saturday and had a relaxing morning with some running (mom) and some biking (dad) and then we headed to downtown Denver for the ChalkArt Festival. I have been asking to go to a festival, any festival, for several weeks now. I don't know what a festival is and I didn't care what kind of festival we went to, I just wanted to go to a "festival", so this was a good thing. This one was very cool- there were 250 different artists drawing some pretty intricate art.
There was a kid spot to draw too. This is about the time that mom and dad decided art is not in my future but I had fun anyway.
After spending some time with the chalk art, we walked over to the 16th mall. It is a mile of outdoor shopping with tons of restaurants and stores and some really great people watching.
There are pianos randomly placed on the street that anyone can play. There was some pretty amazing music being played along the way. I wasn't one of them but again, I had fun trying.
We decided to take a break from walking and found this great fountain to play in. It was like a big maze with lots of jumping to different levels and running between towers. I got my second wind there and we were able to continue on to find dinner.
We went to one of the local breweries for some gooood beer and so-so food and then wandered a little bit more. (This was mom's favorite piano- wouldn't this be a great spot for a wedding picture?)
On Sunday, dad and I hit the park to practice riding my new bike. I did OK but will need more practice before I can be turned loose.
After that, we met some more friends who moved here from Tucson a few years ago. They live about a mile from us so we met them at one of the rec centers and spent the afternoon swimming and eating snow cones.
This is my friend Colin, who lives right behind me. We already spending so much time hanging on the fence waiting for each other to come out of our houses, that his sister made this sign for us.
I'm off to an early bed- got another busy week coming up with mom starting work, me at day camp for 3 days and Uncle Tim, Aunt Dana, Brooke and Faith coming in on Tuesday. Should be another fun week!
