Waiting for Summer.....

We have had a relatively quiet week around here by Goedel standards.  We didn't go anywhere or do anything except work and day camp.  I think we needed that and are now ready to get back at it.
I'm really enjoying my field trips at day camp.  Last week, we went mining for gold, then to the pirate exhibit at the museum of history and science but my absolute favorite trip ever was to Jungle Quest.  It is an indoor climbing/ropes gym.  Holy cats!  I climbed the rock wall which was just OK but then I got to do a zip line and a huge swing, both of which took off from a really high platform that I climbed up to by myself.  I did both of those about a bazillion times each and it was all I talked about when I got home.  I think I was even dreaming about it because I fell out of bed that night too. (I didn't get hurt- no worries!)  It was the highlight of my week.
On Saturday, mom and I went to watch a soccer game.  Mom's friend from high school was in town with her family because her oldest son was playing in a soccer tournament.  I got to spend some time kicking the ball around with her daughters who are both very good soccer players too.  It was a beautiful day and mom had a good time catching up on things.
That night, our neighbors invited us over for a barbecue.  It was delicious food and we had a great time.  I do think they are the only couple on the block without little kids but I kept myself entertained with their awesome dogs.
Sunday ended up being our most quiet day yet.  Dad got in a good Father's Day bike ride while mom and I made an apple pie for him.  We had plans in the afternoon to go to the Children's Museum but then my friend from next door( a different friend from the one that lives behind me) climbed over our backyard fence, knocked on our back door and asked if I could come over and play so that's what I did instead.  Mom and dad spent the day catching up on stuff around the house.  It wasn't a very exciting Father's Day but we still appreciate dad so much for everything he does for us!

As our title of this blog says, we are still waiting for summer.  We have one or two days above 83 degrees and most of the other days have been cloudy and cool.  At our barbecue on Saturday, we were all in long pants and jackets and today, it is rainy, cold with a high of 64 expected.  Mom is kind of missing the heat and the sun right now.  Tomorrow is the first day of summer after all, so any time the sun wants to come out, we'll take it!
