After a pretty low keyed week, we had a really super fun weekend! We headed to Albuquerque for the Balloon Fiesta and to make it even better (although what could be better than spending the weekend with Nana D and Mr. Walker??) our very good friends from Tucson drove in for the weekend as well. We have missed Ms. Audrey, Mr. Mike and Madeline and it was soooo great to see them again.
We all got into town Friday afternoon. We got there about 12:30. The Goods would have been there earlier if it weren't for the highway closure in Arizona and then again when they got to Albuquerque. They finally rolled in about 4 in the afternoon in relatively good spirits despite their travel mishaps. We all hung out and got caught up and then the adults headed out for a delicious dinner. Even Uncle Adam and Aunt Erin came down from the mountain to meet them. Madeline and I hung out with Nana D and Mr. Walker, eating (or not eating) pizza and playing games and running around like crazy ladies. A good time was had by all.
The next morning, the smart ones stayed in their warm beds and the rest of us were up at 4:45 and out the door by 5:30 to get to the Balloon Fiesta. Unfortunately, a huge storm had moved through the night before so the field was a soggy mess and it was still a little windy so not very many balloons took off.
Mom was really bummed but Madeline and I made lemonade out of lemons because we discovered worms in the grass! We collected a whole cup full and took them home. I took mine all the way back to Colorado and let them loose in the grass here. They weren't moving too much anymore but I'm sure they will still do some good.
Once we got tired of being cold and watching balloons not launch, Audrey and mom met Nana D at an art show for serious shopping and Mad, the dads and I headed to the Natural History Museum for the morning. Everyone met at home later and swapped us out, so the boys and Mr. Walker could hit the mountain bike trails.
Uncle Adam and Aunt Erin came down for dinner and Mad and I fell asleep on the couch and were shuffled off to bed early.
After a delicious breakfast, we all went our separate ways on Sunday morning with the Goods heading back to 81 degree Tucson and the Goedels heading to 51 degree Denver. I think we got the short end.
Hope everyone has a wonderful week!
