Thank You Part 2

So, I'm not loving long car rides anymore. It was a lot of sitting in a car seat for me, but more on that later.
My weekend started early on Thursday. Dad took the day off so I got to stay home from daycare. Mom sucked it up and went to work. It was a fun morning for me because all the brick for our back patio was delivered. Mom and dad are a bit disappointed as it is very brown- not what they though they ordered. I think it is pretty cool. We finally got on the road about 1 and 4 long hours later, we pulled into Aunt Mary Kay and Uncle Boo's shack in Sedona. (They've come a long way since Cooney, Ohio!). We had a nice, relaxing evening, enjoying the sunset from the deck. Well, I didn't enjoy the sunset- I was too busy running off all my energy. Can you believe I only slept for 20 minutes in the car! Mom can't either! She and dad were TIRED by the time they pulled into the driveway.
On Friday, Mom, dad and I got back into the car for another pleasant 2 hour ride to the race start. Dad spent about an hour riding the course and mom and I explored Morman Lake. We went for a little hike and I found a few rocks that looked mighty tasty. Mom wasn't to keen on me trying to eat them though. Then we went to look at the horses. One was making all kinds of noise, neighing like crazy. I walked right up to it and was being pretty brave until it neighed right in my face. It scared the bejeezus out of me and sent me into a meltdown. Short-lived but a meltdown none the less. I still like the horses though. After that we went to look at the buffalo. Not much different then a big cow, but mom has a special place in her heart for the buffalo ever since Mr. Walker ran over one when mom was about 8 and in the car at the time ( Buffalo 1- '68 Olds 0). We got back in the care for another LONG drive back to Sedona. Great fun! Dad then drove back to spend the night in Flagstaff and mom and I hung out with Mary Kay and Uncle Boo.
On Saturday, we got up and guess what?! We drove back to the race start. I was so excited! Aunt Mary Kay was a little surprized at how far we had to drive but she was a great sport. We got to the race in time to see dad start his 3rd of 4 laps. He had a really great ride and finished first in his age group. Mom was soooooo excited for him until he reported that he was the only one racing in his age group. Dad was more than a little ticked off. A year of 3:30 AM rides, giving up weekends to train, swearing off deserts and beer for THIS??!! So frustrating. At least he looked good. We headed back to Sedona- another fabulous 2 hour drive. Good lord ,there is only so much of this a girl can take. We had a really fun evening because cousin Becky made a trip up from Phoenix, I'm sure just to see me. Mom loves it when Becky visits because I love Becky and we play and play and play and mom gets to sit down.
We got up early Sunday and headed back- another stinking 4 hours. It was a long trip all around for mom too because she wasn't able to sit in the back with me. She spent most of the weekend arriving everywhere back first because I found it very entertaining to throw my toys, my food, my water etc and watch her grunt and struggle to reach it on the floor. She was little car sick the whole time.
Despite all the car time, we had a fun weekend visiting with family and watching dad race but pleeeeease, don't put in the car seat anymore! Oh yeah, my diet for the weekend consisted of goldfish crackers and noodles. Yum! I love travel food.
