Happy Mother's Day to all my blog fans! We hope everyone got to do whatever they wanted to and enjoyed the day as much as we did here.
We spent Mother's Day weekend camping with friends and it was great! We went camping at Colossal Cave Mountain Park, which right here in the desert, with my friend Madeline and her parents Audrey and Mike and Eric and Janet. We were all a little worried because it was 95 degrees on Saturday- not exactly refreshing, 'get away from it all' kind of weather. It ended up being absolutely perfect. There was a breeze all day and in the shade it was very pleasant.

After it cooled off a bit more, me and Madeline talked my mom and dad into taking us on a nature hike. We found all kinds neat things like an ant hill with very busy ants, deer prints, a javelina nest (we think), all kinds of scat and some cool buildings to boot. It was a very productive hike.

After we got back, the boys started on dinner because the moms didn't want to leave their camp chairs. It worked out for the best because Eric made some really good burgers and dogs for the group.

As if we hadn't had enough excitement during the day, Ms. Janet introduced us to the Forest Fairy. She helped us build a house for the fairy so she could leave us a present. Ms. Audrey and mom were even more excited when Ms. Janet said the Forest Fairy likes mud and proceeded to make big mud puddles for us to splash around in. Fortunately, we stayed relatively clean. I already had chocolate milk in my hair and dirt under my nails, so what is a little mud?

Because we were such a rowdy bunch, we all headed to our respective tents/campers for the evening around 8:30. That doesn't mean we went to sleep though! I rolled around and raised a rucus for the next hour and finally fell asleep around 10.

As usual, I was the first one up the next morning- before the sun came up. My eyes were a bit puffy but I don't let that stop me. Mom and I headed out for an early morning walk- mainly to keep me from waking up the rest of the camp. By the time we got back, people were stirring and coffee was brewing,

After a leisurely breakfast, we packed up and headed home. Mom and dad knew I had a great time when I had a kicking, screaming, sobbing melt down as we tried to get into the car. I fell asleep about 10 minutes later. We spent the rest of the day laying low and watching movies. Mom snuck out to the bookstore to stock up on summer reads.
Grandma Sue came over and brought dinner (on her day!). Dad cooked it up and it was very tasty. I was in bed shortly there after and very happy to be there!
Have a good week!
