Well, we ended up having quite the weekend adventure! As you may remember, Dad was in Silver City, NM riding in the Tour of the Gila and kind of hating life. He wasn't feeling good to begin with and the first day of racing was 80 miles of hills with the last 10 varying between 12 and 19 percent grades. The second day was also 80 miles of racing but there were also 75 mile an hour winds (literally- the winds were clocked at 99 mph on top of the mountain in Albuquerque). It was to the point that he had to stop pedaling because the wind was knocking him off his bike. And it was cold. And it was rainy. So come Friday morning, dad had had it. He packed up and came home. But since technically he was still on vacation, mom and dad decided it would be a good weekend to make a quick trip to San Diego and take in Sea World and the beach! Mom came home from work by 1:30, they had the car packed by 2:30, picked me up by 3 and we were on our way! I really wasn't sure what to make of this sudden change in plans- I mean, we spent a lot of time talking about Sea World but to actually go.... Holy cats!
We rolled into San Diego a little after 10 and the adults had a glass of wine and I played with my cars, then we all hit the hay around 11:30.
You'd think after being up until all hours, that I would sleep in but it seemed like a much better idea to get the day started so I was up at 5:45. Woooooo-Hooooo!
We got to SeaWorld just as it opened at 9. I hit the ground running and did not stop until we left at 3.
Six hours later, we exited Sea World and started to head back to the hotel. Mom decided that we couldn't leave San Diego without seeing the ocean. So 5 minutes after I crashed out in the back seat, next thing I know we are standing on a cliff overlooking the ocean.
It was just an amazingly beautiful day- clear skies, ocean breezes and just cool enough for long pants
Since I was awake again, we found another beach where we could stick our toes in the water. It ended up being more than our toes when a few waves caught me and mom by surprise. Good thing mom actually planned ahead this time and packed a pair of shorts for me to change into. Mom, on the other hand, had to wear wet jeans back to the hotel.

I absolutely couldn't get enough of the waves and water. I kept wanting to go out deeper and deeper but party pooper parents kept me close to the shore. My fingers and lips were turning blue and my teeth were chattering but there was no way I was leaving. I had to carried away.
Here's the best part- after all that- 6 hours of sleep, no nap, 6 hours at Sea World, an hour at the beach and a hour running around the lobby of our hotel, I didn't have a single, solitary melt down. I was pleasant and cooperative all day long. How amazing am I?
And here's the second best thing- the weather never improved in Silver City. It continued to be cold, windy and rainy all weekend. It looks like dad made the right choice!
Happy Monday!
