We had our first daddy/daughter day in a long time. I missed our daddy/daughter days! Dad took me to a Spring Training game and I had a great time. We sat in the outfield grass and I got to eat a hot dog, a pretzel, drink a HUGE lemonade (which I wasn't supposed to tell mom about) and then run around like a mad woman for the whole time. At least I think there was a baseball game. Dad was noticing that all the other kids were sitting nicely, playing quietly and I was the only one running around, talking to complete strangers and generally doing anything but sitting nicely. I think the other kids are being tranquilized by their parents because surely, I can't be the only out of control 3 year old out there.
Just loungin' around. I gotta rest after my big meal.
On Saturday, dad decided it was time to do some planting in our backyard- because you know, he only has one functioning arm. What else does one do when you only have one arm but try to dig holes in the ground with a shovel? He did very well thank you. He planted a raspberry bush, 2 grape vines and some ornamental grasses. While he was busy with that, mom and I got our garden in. We planted tomato plants (14!), tomatillos, peppers, lettuce and strawberries. Can't wait to see what pops up in a few weeks. Now we have all those veggies, grapes, oranges and raspberries. Hope it all grows!
After that, dad couldn't take it anymore and put his time trial bike on the trainer and rode for an hour.
On Sunday, mom got a "kitchen pass". She and her good friend Shari did a beautiful hike in the morning and lunch after. Mom hasn't been hiking since I was 4 months old and she is a little tired from all the extra activity but it was so worth it. Shari is always good for interesting conversation so that made the hike a little less painful.
While mom was galavanting around the wilderness, dad and I were doing more planting- this time 2 palms trees and some ground cover.
After I woke up from nap (yes, I'm taking them again!) we headed out to dad's friend Joe's place to celebrate his birthday. My friend Madeline was there and so was baby Camryn. Madeline and I had a great time jumping on the couches (Sorry!), running around in the grass and eating chips and cake. We were both also fascinated with Camryn and really tried our best to be gentle but it was better to keep her out of reach.
All in all, a good busy weekend. We are tired. Dad has his surgery tomorrow so we will have updates on Wednesday.
