The Griswalds, er, Goedels Go Camping!

We had an exhausting, fun, get out of the heat kind of weekend.  Our friends Audrey and Mike organized a weekend camping trip for a few families up on Mt. Lemmon and it was the perfect weekend for it.  It was 107 in town!
We spent Friday night packing, which was actually a huge effort considering we were only going for one night.
We all met at 8:30 Saturday morning and headed up the mountain with at least half of the citizens of Tucson who had the same idea as us.  We struck out at our first camp choice because it was full, struck out at our second site choice- also full.  (That was actually a good thing as there were so many people at that site, it was looking like a refugee camp in a 3rd world country.  Not pretty.)  Finally, we hit the jackpot and found a nice site with the neighbors a reasonable distance away.  Mom and dad were struggling just a bit because they don't like to camp around other people but they weren't in charge so they didn't complain.  Much.
Anyway, we got set up and started relaxing.  The weather was perfect- mid 80's, just a little rain, good food and fun friends.
Mom and I got to sleep in the back of the x-terra while dad slept in the tent.  I slept like a log but apparently there was a group of kind of rowdy campers that were up until 4AM playing music, screaming, banging stuff- you know, just enjoying the peaceful outdoors.  So mom and dad didn't get much sleep but that didn't stop me from bounding out of the truck at 5AM ready to face the world.  Mom and dad dragged themselves out of their sleeping bags.  Dad and Mike headed out for an early morning bike ride and "accidentally" rode through the trouble makers camp and then mom took me for a "tiger and bear" hunt and amazingly, we also ended up tromping through the loud people's camp site.  We spent a lot of time there, talking loud (because mom claims she couldn't hear me), throwing pine cones and kicking rocks.  It was good morning in a retaliatory kind of way!
We left Sunday morning, came home, went swimming, didn't take a nap even though I was EXHAUSTED.  I'm in bed right now at 6:15 and that is a good thing!
On our Sunday morning Tiger and Bear Hunt.  We found all kinds of tracks (not really)!

Another really fun game of throwing pine cones at Mike.   He is such a trooper!

Our home for the night.  I loved it!
