I just love vacation. It has been a long time since I've been on one and they are sooo great! Mom and I headed to Albuquerque on Friday for 4 days. I was just awesome on the plane as usual and even got compliments on my behaviour. That really surprised mom considering the events of the previous week.
We got to Nana's house about 7 and Uncle Adam and Erin were there waiting just for me! They got right down on the floor and played Go Fish with me AND played cars too. They are so awesome! After a late dinner (cause that's what we do at Nana's), I crashed for the night.
On Saturday, we woke up to snow and cold, surprise, surprise, so we spent a quiet morning at home. In the afternoon, I went to Ms. Joanne and Mr. George's house for a few hours because everyone else had a special church service to go to. I got picked up and we went home for about an hour and then EVERYONE headed back to Ms. Joanne and Mr. George's house for a party!
I had an absolutely wonderful time because Mr. George's grandsons, Henry and Ethan were there too. Henry is 4 and Ethan is 3. We just played and played and played. It helped that we had a common interest of cars and trucks and digging in the dirt. Henry and I arranged a playdate even though he lives in Witchita. We decided we should have a playdate at his house first and then at my house. We did have one small argument about whether I was wearing a sweater or a dress. Henry insisted it was a dress even though I told him it was a sweater. The moms were pretty amused by this!
On Sunday, mom got a free day all to herself and spent it shopping and lunching while I headed to the park with Nana and Mr. Walker. Later that afternoon, mom's college roommate rolled into town with her family on their way to the Grand Canyon. I. Had. So. Much. Fun!! I'm still recovering. Max, her youngest, and I hit it off right away. Apparently, Max wants a little sister or brother very badly and I fit the bill for the weekend. Again, we both liked cars and dinosaurs so it was a great match. (Just before this trip, I told mom that I didn't really like boys but so far this trip, the boys have been great!)
On Monday, we all rolled out of bed and got on the road for adventure by 10 AM- which is kind of miraculous considering there were 8 of us to get going. We headed up to the tram first. It took us all the way to the top of the Sandia mountains and it was just beautiful. There was a ton of snow up there and views forever.
The Shenks then headed out for day of site seeing while mom and I headed home because I was veeery tired. Dinner that night was great fun because the whole gang was there, including Uncle Adam and Erin. The kids got excused from the table early and Quincy, Max and I wore each other out playing tag and hide and go seek. I have never slept so hard in my entire life as I did that night. I was even talking in my sleep about playing hide and seek.
This is mom, Heidi and Nana all showing off their necklaces they got in France. Quite the trio huh?
We were all up early Tuesday and mom and I landed in Tucson about noon and spent the rest of the day recovering from the weekend and doing yard work.
Mom took a "me" day on Wednesday and dropped me off at school in the morning. She was having a wonderful time planting her garden and just puttering around when she got a call from my teacher at school. I guess I'm not supposed to throw a chair at the teacher when I'm mad. Apparently there are better ways to show my anger. I got a red card today. Mom and dad aren't quite sure where this is coming from but mom is really, truly reading her Positive Discipline for Preschoolers book now. This definitely has them worried about the next 20 years with me.
Other than my little outburst today, I had a great weekend with everyone and boys aren't so bad!
