So how was our weekend you ask? Let's see, where to begin?
After blogging about being healthy and perky on Wednesday, mom woke up with a stomach virus Thursday morning that knocked her out until noon on Friday. She managed to get an hour in at work before she came home and collapsed into bed. She had enough strength initially to turn the TV on but things went from bad to worse and she didn't have the energy (mentally or physically) to change the channel or turn the TV off and so spent the afternoon dozing off to multiple episodes of The Beverly Hillbillies and Green Acres. You can't convince her those were the golden days of TV!
Dad had the day off on Friday so while mom was nursing her chicken noodle soup, he and I went to the hardware store and got some more plants for the backyard. We spent all morning planting with mom supervising from the rocking chair on the porch. Our backyard is really starting to look nice with lots and lots of plants.
That afternoon, mom and I managed to make the cake part of our soon to be Easter Bunny cake. I'm getting to be such a good little baker!
Saturday was just a yucky day all around. It was cold and rainy but mom needed to get out of the house so she and I went to a new park and had a good time running around there until we couldn't feel our fingers anymore. We came home and mom and dad tagged teamed me and dad and I went shopping for Grandma Sue's birthday present. We came back from that and decorated the Bunny cake, made Grandma's present ( a stained glass wind chime- pretty nice if you ask me!) and made banana bread. Our weekend was pretty much all downhill from there. Mom and dad didn't even try for the nap today and I spent most of the afternoon/evening in time out. The thing is, I think time out is all kinds of fun! Mom puts me in a corner, doesn't talk to me or look at me but I do everything I can to make her laugh! Woo-hoo!! So to get into time out, I climbed on the counter and stood on it multiple times, I kept picking the coconut off the bunny cake over and over, I stole the hunk of Parmesan cheese off the counter and took a huge bite out of it, tried to take the bag of jelly beans off the counter and eat them multiple times- I can't even remember everything I did. Needless to say, I was in bed early.
Sunday wasn't much better. We made it to Easter Mass and had leave after the processional which is the first 5 minutes because I was creating such a ruckus. I spent a lot of time in the shower because I peed on myself multiple times and again refused to take a nap. I think I'm done with nap time but mom and dad don't seem to want to give up that 2 hour break.
The day wasn't a complete loss though. I got a great Easter basket with lots of fun stuff. Not much candy though- what's up with that? I got to hunt for eggs with Grandma Sue and our neighbors came over for Easter dinner. Mom and dad actually enjoyed the time because Grandma kept me entertained while they acted like adults.
So it was kind of a hit or miss weekend. I had a great time though! Mom's eyes really bug out of her head when she is mad. You should see for yourself sometime- pretty hilarious. We are hoping for a calmer, more civilized, less time out'ed kind of week.
On a different note, mom wants to send a shout out to all the moms and dads (her own included) that work to create/keep alive holiday traditions for the kids. It is a lot of work and probably not appreciated by the kids at the time but so worth it in the end! Thanks everyone!
