Mom and dad go crazy

Today started off well enough. Dad got up early to go for a bike ride but it was raining and lightning so he couldn't go. He had all his pre-ride caffeine to burn off so he and mom decided the house needed to be cleaned top to bottom. They went nuts cleaning and scrubbing- they even thought about washing the dog bowls but didn't quite get to it. They house looks really nice now though.
Once the weather cleared, dad decided to try and ride again. Mom stayed home to feed me and go get her hair cut. About 1:20, the phone rang but mom ignored it because she was getting ready to go but she heard it was dad. She called him back on his cell phone and he said, very calmly, "I crashed on my bike and some people are bringing me home. Get Jordan in her carseat because we need to get to the hospital. It's bad." GREAT! Like mom doesn't freak out easily enough, dad leaves her with this. He pulls into the driveway in a big white convertible with his bike in the back. Thank goodness for nice people. Mom took one look at his elbow and woo-hoo- she went into emergency mode. Likity split, she had me strapped in, dad shoved into the car, snacks and water for dad, dad's wallet, her purse, my binky and diaper bag and off we went to St. Joe's. Turns out, dad has a fracture and dislocation of his left elbow. The ER doctor tried to relocate it with just morphine for pain and that didn't go to well. Dad ended up being sedated and then it went back in, easy as pie. Thank goodness that is all he did. It could have been a lot worse. He was flying down Mt. Lemmon at 35 MPH, hit a rock and blew a tire. Mom and dad are very thankful he walked away from that. He is pretty bummed because his big ride for the year (tour de Tucson) is coming up in November and it is pretty unlikely he'll be riding in it. Poor dad. On the bright side, he gets out of yard work and diaper duty.
It should be pretty quiet around here for awhile. I was very good all day at the hospital, although I'm not so sure I liked all those new people looking at me. I cried in a lot of peoples faces today but I calmed down pretty quick. Hope dad feel better soon.

Could've been worse, is right!!!! Amazing that your dad doesn't need surgery! There will be plenty of other races...just heal up and feel better soon!
